🛑 EMERGENCY RADIO PROCEDURES

STEP 1: DIGITAL ALERT (If your radio has a Red Button)
  • Lift the red flap marked DISTRESS.
  • Press and hold the button for 5 seconds.
  • Your GPS location and MMSI are now broadcasting to all vessels and authorities.
STEP 2: VOICE CALL (Channel 16) Ensure radio is on High Power (25W). Speak slowly and clearly.
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY"
"This is [Vessel Name], [Vessel Name], [Vessel Name]"
"Call Sign [Your Call Sign] or MMSI [Your MMSI]"
THE MESSAGE:
"MAYDAY, [Vessel Name]"
POSITION: Give Lat/Long or distance/bearing from landmark.
NATURE OF DISTRESS: (e.g., Sinking, Fire, Medical).
PERSONS ON BOARD: State total number.
VESSEL DESCRIPTION: (e.g., 5-meter white half-cabin).

📱 000 EMERGENCY MOBILE PROCEDURE

STEP 1: THE CALL Dial 000 (Works even if locked/no credit) or dial 112 (International standard).
STEP 2: THE CONNECTION Operator: "Emergency, which service do you require: Police, Fire, or Ambulance?"
You: Respond "POLICE." Once Connected: Say "WATER POLICE."
STEP 3: THE DETAILS (The "V.L.N." Method) State your details clearly using this priority:
  • V - VESSEL: Name, registration number, and description (e.g., "5m Blue Quintrex").
  • L - LOCATION: Give your GPS Coordinates (Check Emergency Plus App or Google Maps). If no GPS, use landmarks (e.g., "1km East of the Nobbies").
  • N - NATURE: What is the emergency? (e.g., "Sinking," "Engine failure").
  • P.O.B: State the Number of People on Board.
